She laid the foundation for her illustrious academic journey by completing her B.Sc (Hons) in Biophysics from Panjab University, Chandigarh, in 1993. She further pursued her education by obtaining an M.Sc (Hons) in Biophysics from the same university in 1995. Her academic prowess led her to pursue a Ph.D. in Medical Biotechnology from PGIMER, Chandigarh, culminating in 2003.

Professional Endeavors

Her professional journey commenced as a Demonstrator in the Department of Experimental Medicine and Biotechnology at PGIMER, Chandigarh, followed by a permanent position as a Lecturer in the Department of Biophysics at Panjab University, Chandigarh. Her career trajectory soared as she progressed through various roles, including Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and currently serving as Professor & Head of the Department of Biophysics at PGIMER, Chandigarh, since July 2018.

Contributions and Research Focus in Cell Biology

Her research is primarily focused on Cell Biophysics, scaffold, and biomaterial applications in regenerative medicine and tissue engineering. Her pioneering work includes the application of human stem cells in regenerative medicine, cellular physiology of cancer cells, and the development of 3D culture models for cancer, Cell Biology and chemoradioresistant cells. Her laboratory conducts studies involving spectroscopic analysis for therapeutic applications and DNA binding fluorescent dyes for cell imaging, along with patient-derived organoid development for a personalized approach to cancer therapy.
