National Institute of Technology , Mizoram, India

Author Profile

Early Academic Pursuits 📚

Sabyasachi Gupta’s journey in the electrical engineering realm began with an intense curiosity for how power systems drive modern society. After completing his Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Technology, he pursued advanced coursework in power systems analysis and control. During this period, he secured the National Certificate of Supervisor—an essential credential for maintaining electrical installations in compliance with the Electricity Act—and delved deeply into the theoretical underpinnings of transformer behavior, relay coordination, and load flow studies. His formative research projects investigated voltage stability indices and reactive power compensation, laying the groundwork for his lifelong fascination with Optimal Reactive Power Dispatch (ORPD) in networks increasingly populated by renewable energy sources.

Professional Endeavors 🔧

Since February 1993, Sabyasachi has been an integral part of GE Power India Limited (formerly Alstom India Ltd.) in Durgapur, advancing from a Supervisor to Lead Equipment Maintenance Specialist. In this role, he spearheads maintenance and operations for HT & LT switchgear, heavy CNC-operated machinery, and high-voltage distribution systems. His hands-on expertise extends to troubleshooting complex plant outages, spearheading resource planning, and orchestrating in-process inspections—efforts that have consistently improved equipment uptime and reduced operational risk.

Simultaneously, Sabyasachi has championed continuous improvement initiatives as a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certified Professional, applying DMAIC methodologies to streamline maintenance workflows and eliminate recurring faults. His active management of multidisciplinary teams has honed his skills in people leadership, safety compliance audits (as an NFPA Certified Electrical Safety Compliance Professional, CESCP), and cross-departmental coordination.
