Rohan Nair’s academic journey began at the prestigious Atomic Energy Central School in Mumbai, where he demonstrated exceptional scholastic aptitude. He excelled in his Class X board examinations with a remarkable CGPA of 9.8/10 in 2011 and continued to perform well during his Class XII with a score of 79.4%. His passion for engineering led him to pursue a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E) in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Mumbai, graduating with a CGPA of 7.00/10 in 2017. Eager to further his expertise, he enrolled in the Master of Technology (M. Tech) program in Ocean Engineering at IIT Madras, Chennai, where he graduated with a CGPA of 8.26/10 in 2023.

Professional Endeavors

Rohan’s professional career commenced at Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy Pvt. Ltd. as a Solution Design Engineer in the Tower & Foundation Structures department. Here, he performed finite element analysis on both offshore and onshore wind turbine structures, ensuring their stability under various external loads. His tenure at Siemens Gamesa from June 2021 to December 2021 laid the groundwork for his subsequent role at the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO).In December 2021, Rohan joined ISRO’s Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre (LPSC) in Valiamala, Thiruvananthapuram. As a Scientist/Engineer, he focused on the Materials & Manufacturing Entity, specifically in Earth Storable Engine & Stage Hardware Fabrication. His responsibilities included overseeing process, quality control, and quality assurance planning in the fabrication and acceptance testing of aluminum alloy propellant and water tanks for satellite launch vehicles. He also played a key role in developing and collaborating with industrial partners to charter new manufacturing technologies and address fabrication challenges.

Rohan’s contributions at ISRO have been pivotal in advancing the fabrication processes and quality assurance protocols for satellite launch vehicles. His research focus on the development and testing of aluminum alloy propellant tanks has contributed significantly to the reliability and efficiency of Earth’s storable stages in satellite launches. Demonstrating consistent excellence, Rohan cleared the GATE examination four times, each time achieving a percentile above 93 in Mechanical Engineering.
