Dr. M. Sumithra began her journey in the field of pharmacy with a strong academic foundation. She completed her Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) in April 2000 and her Master of Pharmacy (M.Pharm) in Pharmacology in March 2007, both from The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, securing first-class honors. Her commitment to pharmaceutical sciences culminated in the successful completion of her Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in July 2016, signifying her deep engagement in specialized research.

With over 17 years of academic experience, Dr. Sumithra began her teaching career as a Lecturer at Jaya College of Pharmacy (2007–2009). She further expanded her expertise during her tenure as Assistant Professor at Vels University (2009–2013). Since August 2013, she has been serving as an Associate Professor at SRM College of Pharmacy, SRMIST, where she continues to mentor, teach, and contribute significantly to pharmaceutical education and research.
