In 2009, Dr. Sarkar earned her Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Mechanical Engineering from JNTU Hyderabad, graduating with a notable 84.5% and receiving the prestigious Gold Medal for her outstanding academic performance. Continuing her academic pursuit, she completed her Master of Technology (M.Tech) in Nuclear Sciences in 2012, achieving 84.8%. Dr. Sarkar’s professional career began with a pivotal role as a Trainee Scientific Officer at the BARC Training School, IGCAR campus, from September 2009 to August 2010. Her dedication and exceptional performance during this training led to her appointment as a Scientific Officer in the Reactor Design & Technology Group at IGCAR, Kalpakkam, from September 1, 2010, onwards. In her role, she has made significant contributions to the field of reactor design and technology. Dr. Sarkar’s expertise includes finite element analysis of reactor components, high-temperature design using RCC MR code, and research on ballooning in fuel clad tubes. Her work also involves experiments on fuel pin end-plug repaired welds and analyzing ratcheting in pipe bends, showcasing her proficiency in addressing complex engineering challenges.
