He embarked on his academic journey with a strong foundation in physics, completing his Bachelor's degree in Physics from D.A.V. College, Jalandhar City, Punjab, in 1998. He then pursued his Master's degree in Physics from Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, Punjab, in 1999. With a keen interest in radiation physics and its applications, Dr. Kumar went on to obtain his Ph.D. in Experimental Radiation Physics from Panjab University, Chandigarh, in 2009. His doctoral research focused on the study of inner-shell vacancy decay and photon-atom scattering processes in the x-ray energy region under the guidance of Prof. Nirmal Singh and Dr. Devinder Mehta.

College, Jalandhar City, Punjab, from August 1999 to March 2000, where he taught graduate classes in Electronics and Nuclear Physics. Subsequently, he served as a Lecturer in Medical Physics at Panjab University, Chandigarh, from August 2008 to April 2010, teaching Radiation Physics and conducting practical classes for postgraduate students in Medical Physics and M.Sc. II Physics.
