Dr. Soumen Saha | Sericulture | Best Researcher Award
Dr. Soumen Saha is a distinguished researcher in plant genomics, biotechnology, and sericulture science, with notable contributions to molecular characterization, genetic diversity, and tissue culture of economically significant plant species. His research integrates DNA fingerprinting, oxidative stress biology, and heavy-metal toxicity studies, advancing sustainable sericulture and crop improvement. As Principal Investigator, he currently leads a project on the biosynthesis of sericin-based copper nanoparticles and their biological effects on mulberry diseases. Dr. Saha has authored over 45 peer-reviewed publications in reputed international and national journals such as Scientific Reports, Plant Gene, South African Journal of Botany, and Acta Ecologica Sinica, along with several book chapters in Springer, Taylor & Francis, and IntechOpen volumes. His works on Ocimum, Cymbopogon, Morus alba, and wild silk insects have contributed to the development of biotechnological tools for plant regeneration, genetic fidelity assessment, and sericultural biodiversity conservation. He is also an active member of global scientific societies, including the Linnean Society of London and the British Ecological Society, demonstrating strong international research engagement. Dr. Saha’s extensive studies bridge molecular biology, plant physiology, and applied sericulture, reinforcing his recognition as a leading figure in plant biotechnology research in India.
