Early Academic Pursuits

Miss Monica Bairagi, born on 14th September 1996, hails from Village Kalariya, Dhar Road, Indore, 453001 (M.P.), India. With a strong foundation in education, she pursued her higher studies with unwavering dedication. Monica completed her Higher Secondary education in Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry at Choithram Fountain H.S. School, Indore, securing a first division in March 2013. She then earned her Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Physics, Mathematics, and Information Technology from Vaishnav Institute of Science and Management, Devi Ahilya University, Indore, in May 2016, again achieving first division. Her academic journey continued with a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Physics from Govt. Girls Degree College, Devi Ahilya University, Indore, where she graduated in May 2018 with a commendable CGPA of 7.15.

Professional Endeavors

Currently, Miss Monica Bairagi is a research scholar registered for a Ph.D. in Physics at Vikram University, Ujjain, India. She began her Ph.D. journey on 16th June 2021 and is expected to submit her thesis after 16th June 2024. Her research is conducted at the School of Studies in Physics, Vikram University, and the Physics Department of the Government Engineering College, Ujjain. Under the supervision of Dr. N. Yadav and co-supervision of Dr. V.K. Hinge, Monica has delved deeply into the field of X-ray Absorption Fine Structure (XAFS) studies of metal complexes of biological importance.

Contributions and Research Focus

Monica’s research contributions are notable, particularly in the realm of XAFS. She has worked extensively at the EXAFS beamline at Indus-2 synchrotron, Raja Ramanna Centre for Advanced Technology (RRCAT), Indore, where she recorded and analyzed XAFS data using advanced software like Demeter, FEFF10, and Larch. Her research project titled “X-ray Absorption Fine Structure Studies of Some Metal Complexes of Biological Importance” has yielded significant insights, as reflected in her publications. Monica is the corresponding author of three published research papers that investigate the local coordination and electronic nature of copper centers in various complexes.

Accolades and Recognition

Monica’s academic and research prowess has been recognized through several fellowships and awards. She was awarded the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) by the University Grant Commission-Department of Atomic Energy-Consortium for Scientific Research, Indore, for the research project grant No. CSR–IC–ISUM-24/ CRS-307/2019-20/1359, which she held from 18th September 2020 to 17th September 2023. Her JRF was subsequently converted to a Senior Research Fellowship (SRF) from 1st July 2023 to 17th September 2023. These fellowships provided Monica with the financial support and motivation to pursue her research with vigor.

Impact and Influence

Monica Bairagi’s research has had a significant impact on the scientific community, especially in the field of XAFS. Her work has been presented at various prestigious conferences and seminars, both virtually and in-person, across the globe. These include the XAFS 2021 Virtual Conference at the University of Sydney, the 2021 APS/IIT XAFS Virtual Summer School in Chicago, USA, and the Asian Conference on X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy (ACXAS) 2022 in Pattaya, Thailand. Her presentations have not only disseminated her research findings but also fostered international collaboration and dialogue in her field.

Legacy and Future Contributions

Looking ahead, Miss Monica Bairagi is poised to make further contributions to the field of Physics. With her Ph.D. nearing completion, she is expected to continue her research endeavors, exploring new frontiers in X-ray Absorption Fine Structure and related areas. Her dedication and passion for scientific inquiry are evident, and her future contributions are anticipated to bring about advancements in the understanding of metal complexes and their biological significance.
