Dr. Greeshma Gopalan | Natural Products | Best Researcher Award

CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology | India

Dr Greeshma Gopalan is a Scientist at the CSIR‑Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT), Hyderabad, whose academic journey includes a BSc in Chemistry and an MSc in Applied Chemistry, followed by a PhD in Chemistry focusing on phytochemical investigations of medicinal plants and synthetic transformations of the natural product zerumbone. She then undertook post-doctoral research at Uppsala University in Sweden, followed by research scientist roles in industry, before returning to IICT in a scientist role. Her research interests span natural product chemistry, synthetic methodology, medicinal chemistry, and the exploration of bioactive compounds from abundant natural resources toward therapeutic leads. She has authored multiple peer-reviewed articles in high-impact journals and has an h-index of 10 with approximately 257 citations (per Google Scholar). Her work has earned recognition including first-rank honours in her undergraduate and postgraduate studies, a Junior Research Fellowship (CSIR-UGC), a GATE scholarship, and the Prof Dr A Hisham Endowment Award from the Kerala Academy of Sciences. In summary, Dr Gopalan is a dynamic chemist working at the interface of natural products and synthetic medicinal chemistry, translating biodiversity-derived scaffolds into novel therapeutic leads.
