EARLY ACADEMIC PURSUITS

Dr. Md. Modassir Khan began his academic journey with a strong foundation in Mechanical Engineering, culminating in a B.Tech from Lingaya’s University, Faridabad. He later pursued specialized knowledge in Thermal Power Plant Engineering, enhancing his technical expertise with a postgraduate diploma from the Central Board of Irrigation & Power, New Delhi. His passion for advanced thermal systems led him to complete his M.E. in Heat Power (Thermal Engineering) and ultimately a Ph.D. in Thermal Engineering with a research focus on renewable energy, alternate fuels, and emission reduction technologies from BIT Mesra, Ranchi.

PROFESSIONAL ENDEAVORS

Dr. Khan currently serves as an Assistant Professor at SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Tiruchirappalli—a premier institute ranked 13th in NIRF 2024. Previously, he held a similar position at Usha Martin University, Ranchi, accumulating two years of dedicated teaching and research experience post-Ph.D. He is known for integrating practical insights with academic instruction, aiming to bridge the gap between industrial needs and academic rigor.

CONTRIBUTIONS AND RESEARCH FOCUS IN EMMISION CONTROL

Dr. Khan’s research significantly contributes to the development of eco-friendly fuel technologies for the transport sector. His core focus is on performance enhancement and emission mitigation in Compression Ignition (CI) engines through quaternary blends, biodiesel, higher alcohols, and advanced fuel injection techniques. His experimental investigations on blends involving neem, jatropha, soybean, methyl oleate, and heptanol have demonstrated promising results in reducing particulate matter, NOx emissions, and enhancing thermal efficiency.

ACADEMIC CITATIONS, ACCOLADES AND RECOGNITION

Dr. Khan has published 11+ peer-reviewed journal articles and has actively participated in prestigious conferences at institutions like IIT Guwahati, IIT Roorkee, NIT Rourkela, NIT Bhopal, and BIT Mesra. He has been invited to present his findings in forums focusing on sustainable energy transitions, clean energy innovations, and waste-to-energy applications, earning recognition for his analytical depth and practical relevance.

IMPACT AND INFLUENCE

With a strong citation footprint, Dr. Khan’s work is published in leading SCI/Scopus-indexed journals including ACS Omega, Sustainability, Environmental Science and Pollution Research, and Alexandria Engineering Journal. His research holds international relevance, especially in green transportation, zero-carbon technologies, and sustainable fuel systems, and contributes to SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) and SDG 13 (Climate Action).

LEGACY AND FUTURE CONTRIBUTIONS

Dr. Khan envisions developing scalable fuel injection systems and biofuel blends tailored for Indian and global markets. His research aims to make a technological leap in alternative fuel combustion, especially in marine and commercial diesel engines. He also intends to mentor the next generation of engineers through lab-to-field project translation, encouraging real-world applications of his findings.
