Dr. Supriyo Chakraborty is a distinguished Professor in the Department of Biotechnology at Assam University, Silchar, with over two decades of teaching and research experience. He holds an MSc and PhD in Plant Breeding & Genetics from Assam Agricultural University and Dibrugarh University, respectively, and completed his Postdoctoral research at NC State University, USA, focusing on QTL mapping in plants. Dr. Chakraborty has previously served as Dean of the School of Life Sciences and Head of the Department of Biotechnology at Assam University. His early career includes a tenure as Assistant Professor cum Scientist at Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat. Dr. Chakraborty’s research interests span molecular genetics, codon usage patterns, RNA editing, microRNA-mediated gene regulation, and computational genomics. He has authored 3 books, 2 book chapters, 16 software copyrights, and over 150 peer-reviewed research articles in high-impact journals covering plant genetics, viral genomics, cancer biology, and computational biology. His work on codon usage bias, mitochondrial gene analysis, and microRNA-based gene silencing has advanced both theoretical and applied molecular biology. A prolific innovator, Dr. Chakraborty holds multiple national and international software copyrights related to genetic and protein sequence analysis. He has attended numerous professional courses, refresher programs, and workshops sponsored by ICAR, UGC, and DBT, India. His contributions to science, mentoring of students, and leadership roles in academia underscore his commitment to advancing biotechnology research and education.
