She completed her undergraduate degree in Microbiology, Botany, and Chemistry from St. Pious X Degree College, Osmania University, Hyderabad in 1998. This was followed by a Master’s degree in Microbiology from the Department of Microbiology, Osmania University in 2000, where she was a university ranker. She then pursued a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences (Cell and Molecular Biology) at the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB), Hyderabad, completing her doctorate in 2009.

Dr. Tangutur’s professional career has been marked by a progressive ascent through various scientific roles at the CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (CSIR-IICT) in Hyderabad. She started as a Junior Scientist in 2008, advancing to Scientist in 2011, Senior Scientist in 2016, and finally Principal Scientist in 2020. In addition to her role at CSIR-IICT, she also serves as an Honorary Associate Professor at AcSIR.
